We offer a variety of seminars to educate skaters, coaches, and parents on various strength and conditioning related topics.  Seminars can be tailored to your needs.  Below is a brief description of each course we offer.  Please email us for more information at lauren@sk8strong.com

Seminars include:

The Biomechanics of SkatingTeaches the basics of the musculature and joints of the human body and how they relate to jumps, spins, stroking, moves and various skating positions.  Learn the relationship between upper and lower body functions.

For skaters: 1 hour     For coaches: 1 hour

 

Plyometrics and Agility Drills:  Teaches safe and effective plyometric progressions and agility drills for skaters.  Learn how muscles are used in both on and off ice jumping.

For skaters:1 hour      For coaches: 1 hour

 

The Core  Teaches how to apply core strengthening principles to all on ice movements.  Learn how to be aware if a skater has a weak core, and learn safe exercises for a skater to perform.  Use of pilates, balance and physioball exercises.

For skaters: 1 hour     For coaches: 1 hour

 

Stretching 101:   Teaches several different stretching methods to help a skater reach maximum flexibility.  Also included is the instruction of a pre-competition warm-up

For skaters: 1 hour     For coaches: 1 hour

 

Functional Exercise Progressions: Teaches the basics of functional lower and upper body exercises, and how to progress them. Focuses on the use of correct body mechanics with exercise.

For skaters: 1 hour     For coaches: 1 hour
